Tooth Extraction Ypsilanti, MI
Ensuring that your teeth are in great shape will serve you well for the entirety of your life. Keeping your natural teeth in your mouth where they belong is an important step towards maintaining the overall health of your jaw and your mouth, which is why Dr. Van Alstine will make every attempt possible to keep them in place. With that said, sometimes the best option is to remove a tooth. Sometimes the tooth in question might be too damaged to heal, or too full of infection to risk keeping it where it currently is. When this happens, patients typically find themselves facing a tooth extraction.
At Van Alstine Family Dentistry, we have plenty of experience in helping patients get through the tooth extraction process as easily and comfortably as possible. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are in pain or think that you might need a tooth extracted, because our experience and guidance can make the extraction experience a relatively easy one.
Why You Might Need A Tooth Extraction
When you find yourself with a tooth that has to be removed, you need a tooth extraction. A tooth extraction, then, is the process that occurs when Dr. Van Alstine removes (or “pulls”) a tooth from your mouth. Note that there are a variety of reasons that could lead to this being necessary. Now is the time to extract the tooth in question and begin the healing process.
What to Expect from a Tooth Extraction
The first thing to keep in mind about tooth extractions is that the procedure is not an uncommon one—there is no need to panic about it. You won’t experience any discomfort during the actual extraction process itself as we will ensure that the area is fully numb before we start.
Depending upon the kind of removal in question—whether or not it is a complex or a simple removal—the amount of time shouldn’t be overly long, so you will not be sitting in the chair for hours and hours. Additionally, the aftercare for an extraction is not an overly complicated one. Many patients find it to be similar to a wisdom tooth removal. Remember that if you are having some sedation done during the procedure rather than just local anesthetic, you need to have someone available to drive you home as you will not be able to drive.
